ISBN:978-1-4363-0146-6 Review for Kelsey's Quest by Liliana Ephraim
Kelsey's Quest, Fred Ephraim’s, imminently readable and enjoyable first novel, is subtle as a light spring rain; you can’t tell that you’ve gotten wet until it’s all over. His heroine a surprisingly adaptable Mid-western farm wife, Kelsey Stewart, whose journey to Los Angeles, to bring back her Iraqi war veteran husband, himself on an escape trip to California to find himself. Surprises abound for them both, as Fred uses a surprisingly gentle touch to expose them in their very separate adventures, and there’s no dearth of colorful characters and intrigues to arrest the mind of the most impatient reader. In short, everything is not what it at first seems as the story unveils its multiple plot lines. From Kelsey’s Quest to bring her, Michael back home to what some may see as a nefarious anti-hero the Dr. Augustus, as he and his delicate yet lethal partner Consuela, plot to take over the country, there is no shortage of intrigue in this nuanced family saga.
Synopsis for Kelsey's Quest Kelsey Stewart had grown weary waiting for her new young husband Michael to grow up through a troublesome early marriage, and through his armed service in an unpopular war in Iraq, but still, she had waited. But now, upon his return home, her once wounded, and now confused husband decides to take off to California to clear his head, leaving his small town farm wife, his farm and their lovely twin daughters behind. After a while of not hearing from him, Kelsey, resolutely sets out after him to bring him back home, when simultaneously life-altering adventures develop for them both.
